Engineering
Hudson has a history of innovation in developing new products to meet its customers' needs and specifications. Here at Hudson, we place significant emphasis on product development and we believe that these efforts enable us to achieve our goals of leading the market. Our product development and improvement activities, which are carried out on a continuous basis by our experienced and highly talented engineers, include:

  • the design and development of new technically advanced products in response to changing industry and customer requirements
  • refinement of our manufacturing capabilities

- and -

  • improvement in product composition, durability, and reliability

To support our goal of product development, Hudson's engineering department uses sophisticated CAD systems to design new products and enhance current products. Hudson's engineers focus on the concept of sales engineering in developing and improving our products. We actively work with our OEM customers to design new products and assist in solving issues faced in the product development process.

Manufacturing
Hudson's manufacturing process is among one of the many factors distinguishing us from our competitors.  We employ a vertically integrated operation that almost completely controls the manufacturing process from product and tooling design to the time the brass strip and zinc ingot arrive, through die casting, assembly, inspection, and shipment.

Quality
Hudson's quality control program helps make us an industry leader. We sell quality. To maintain the highest quality standards, we use extensive in-house quality control procedures. Our quality control department is headed by a Quality Manager. Throughout the manufacturing process, beginning with receipt of raw materials from outside suppliers and ending with testing of finished products, a series of quality inspections are performed to validate conformity to purchased product specifications, engineering requirements, and customer requirements.

In-process inspection is the focal point of Hudson's quality control program. The goal of the program is to maintain the quality of our products piece by piece. The quality control program starts with the machine operator and is carried out by every person on the shop floor, including upper management, where it is not unusual to find a senior manager conducting a plant walk-through and inspecting parts coming off of the production line.

As part of our commitment to quality, Hudson Lock is ISO 9001 registered and certified.

All quality control procedures in the manufacturing process are documented in our Quality Manual, Procedures, and Work Instructions.
